All over the place!?
It's becoming really difficult to predict how/whether we will catch any birds at feeders at the moment, as these examples will show. On Sunday afternoon at 3pm ( not usually a good time) in nice warm weather, I tried at the College feeder for an hour and a half. Nice catch including 2 Brambling, Yellowhammer, Nuthatch and a few Chaffinch and Greenfinch. So I suggested to a couple of mates to try an early morning session on Tuesday. It was a cool still morning--only 9 birds caught at a very quiet feeder. This afternoon, we had a few mates together for a bite of lunch while the rain came down. It stopped about 1pm so I suggested we try at the forestry feeder even though little had been reported there. Surprisingly then, we caught 8 Redpoll and 10 Siskin--still can't work out why things vary so much......
