We set the nets on Tuesday evening and had a respectable catch of 22 bitds--most of which were Chiffchaffs. The forecast on 4 of the 5 websites we check was good, so we opened the nets at 0500 on Wednesday morning. Catching was going quite well until it started to rain at 0715. It poured down for 30 mins--just long enough for us to take all the nets down--then it stopped and the sun came out. Another 27 birds--two questions remain--where are all the baby Blackcaps that many other ringers around the country--and locally are catching; and second why are almost all of the Willow warblers we are catching adult birds in advanced moult?

Lets hope Saturday's weather is OK
