Not a bad morning
Last minute decision after poor weather and a bad cold managed to put a team together for this morning. Weather warm but complete cloud cover with a gentle NW wind which fortunately dropped as it got lighter. There didn't seem to be many birds about--still haven't connected with the roving tit/warbler flock--but we manged to ring 60 new birds. the more interesting ones were, 14 Reed warblers--these are really coming to the fore now as the youngsters begin the explore their natal area. 3 Sedge warblers, 5 Willow, 7 Chiffchaff, 2 Blackcap, 3 Whitethroat and a Garden warbler made up the summer migrant total. 8 Tree sparrrows is always good, and the first Kingfisher for a while brought a splash of colour to the procedings.
