Looking at the weather forecast we decided to try and squeeze an extra session in on BH Monday. Quite a few more birds around than on Saturday--with hundreds of Hirundines. However, these were all very high as the weather was rather warm--so not able to catch any. 47 new birds were ringed, with the highlight being our first Spotted Flycatcher of the season--a typical September passage migrant, and well illustrated on Steve's Belvide blog. There had obviously been a movement of Chiffchaffs with 19 new birds and a control--ie a bird ringed elsewhere. These are always exciting so we look forward to getting the ringing details back from the BTO to give us at least some idea about where our migrant birds come from. We will of course post the deatils as soon as we get them.
