The weather this week has been pretty useless for ringing--high winds and lots of rain--but there have been a couple of breaks which have allowed us to have a couple of tries in the Belvide reedbeds, for Reed Buntings which roost there. All together we have ringed 33 new birds and recaptured 4, of which one may be a bird ringed elsewhere. We have just got word that a Reed bunt. we ringed last winter at the Belvide roost was recaptured breeding near Hull--so the birds dropping into Belvide may well be from a very wide catchment area.
